"Midweek: We've Had A Sign" Pastor Cindy's Devotion 03/17/2021

Friends,

We have had a sign from God.

Actually, it is our sign, but I think it has an important message.

Let me explain.

Easter is coming and we are preparing for Easter Sunday worship.  Three years ago, we prepared a banner to put out on the lawn announcing our Easter worship service times. It is bright and colorful and has Easter eggs on it, and it clearly announces our worship times.  This has been such a hard year, and this week has been so dreary.  We got the banner out this week and it feels like the perfect "splash of color" message to put in front of the church.

One “problem.”  A picture of the banner is attached.  In one corner, the banner announces “Easter Egg Hunt 10 am.” That’s an old message from three years ago.  We had no plans for an Easter Egg Hunt.  We can cover that up.

But what if we are getting a message that it is time to have some fun?  What if we just did as the sign says and had an Easter Egg Hunt?  We could use the grassy area near the parking lot.  We would need eggs and people to hide them and people to supervise at 10 am on Easter morning.  None of that seems impossible.  Could we have an Easter Egg hunt?

The sign makes me smile. I think about how often I look at the world through a narrow lens. I fail to see the possibilities. Honestly, in my heart, this was a sign from God.  I am seeing God smile and say "Cindy, it’s time to celebrate." Joy is a gift from God too.

PS:  If we have an Easter Egg Hunt, we will need leaders and volunteers to make it happen.  Reply to this email if you are willing to do this.  And prepare for joy.

Every blessing,

Pastor Cindy
